The Russian Blue originated in Russia, however after the war, these cats hitch-hiked with the Europeans to Europe. After the war, these cats were so interbred but big name cat breeders wanted to revive this breed. Some bred to British Blues to help keep their plush coats, and some bred to Siamese cats to bring back the elegant body with large eyes and ears.
Today, the Russian Blue has beautiful emerald eyes and plush pale blue coats with a permanent diamond like smile. With its beauty and interbred intelligence, this cat is one of the best show winning breeds in the cat world.
