Theosophical Society

Madame Helen Blavatsky, a Russian Aristocrat founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. Theosophical means "divine wisdom". Helen Blavatsky attained this divine wisdom though ascended masters, which she was able to communicate with through her psychic powers. She supposedly also traveled around the world learning from esoteric schools and tibetan masters, though many now believe that she was in Europe during this time. Her society was based on the idea that "There is no religion higher than truth". The Theosophical Society also introduced ideas such as karma, reincarnation, and subtle energies to the Western world. Currently, the Theosophical Society has spread  to over 70 countries.
