Russian Christmas
Christmas in Russia is celebrated on January 7, according to the
Orthodox calendar. Although preceding Christmas, New Year’s Day, January 1st,
is the more important holiday. Russia also has a Santa Claus, called Ded Moroz,
or know as Father Frost. Accompanied the Snow Maiden (Snegurochka), he brings gifts
to children to lay under the New Year's tree.
