Saint Petersburg

Saint Petersburg was founded when Peter the great found the great northern war with Sweden and captured a fort near the sea. Peter would then move the government offices from Moscow to Saint Petersburg and then became the capital of Russia. Later on the city's names would be changed from Petrograd to Leningrad and in 1991 back to Saint Petersburg. Today it the second largest city in Russia.
