Recreational Activities for a Getaway to Russia!

If you are interested in Climbing/Hiking:
It is said that the Caucasus, Altai, Sayan, and Stanovoy mountains all offer fantastic climbing; as do the peaks along the Kamchatka peninsula. There is a lot of spectacular trekking terrain if you are interested in hiking. However, getting information from locals is essential, so it’s best to hire a guide and learn a few word of the language. Areas like Lake Baikal, the west Ural Mountains and the Altay Mountains are prime hiking areas that you could go to if you were looking for a nice trek. Over in the Far East the landscape offers volcanic peaks and steaming hot springs of the Kamchatka peninsula, along with tons of wildlife. Not only is this a lovely sight, but how often do you get to take a dip in hot springs? In recent years, expert and reliable guide companies have sprung up all over Russia. They have been making expeditions to even the most remote regions possible for Western visitors that are looking for a thrill.

There is also White Water Rafting:
I read that the Katun and Chuya Rivers in the Altay Mountains of Southern Siberia and the Lake Baikal region offer exciting, yet challenging white water adventures. There beauty is also something to be appreciated. Though, if you are looking for a more relaxed journey, you could take a float down the Kerzhenets and Lukh Rivers in Novgorod. Any route you decide on will take you through the country’s most breathtaking scenery and give you a look at a genuine natural landscape.
