Russia Day

As we come into a university break of our own, I thought it might be interesting to learn more about a holiday in Russia. How better fitting than a holiday named after the nation itself? Russia Day is celebrated on June 12th and is comparable to our own 4th of July. On this day in 1990, Russia declared its independence and separation from the USSR. Now, then holiday is celebrated in a similar way our own independence day with fireworks and a day without work or school. Russia Day seems to be viewed by many as less of a call of nationalism and more of a mere day off of laboring.
